However, a blind girl from Bulacan in the Philippines was able to identify her rapist as their 57-year-old ‘family friend’. She recognized his voice, making her able to report what he did to her. Apparently, the 57-year-old man raped and sexually assaulted her after drugging her grandfather.
According to reports, Romeo Tadero was having a drinking session with the victim’s grandfather at the day of the assault. Her grandfather then claimed that his drink must have been spiked because he immediately fell asleep just after two glasses.
It was also reported that the only people in their home at that time was Tadero, the victim’s grandfather, and the 11-year-old victim. According to the victim’s family, Tadero often stayed at their house as he was a ‘family friend’.
Meanwhile, the victim was interviewed, to which she narrated, “Sabi niya po, gusto niya raw po akong ligawan. Tinataas ko po ‘yung shirt ko, sabi ko po, ‘Ayaw ko po.’ Papatayin niya raw po ako ‘pag nagsumbong.”
[He said he wanted to court me. He pulled my shirt up and I said ‘I don’t want to’. He said he’ll kill me if I tell anybody about what he did.]
Apparently, the victim’s parents were both in Cavite, working. the assault was only cut short when the victim’s older sister came home.
Tadero didn’t deny the crime and said, “Sabi ko mahal ko siya… inaako ko po ‘yung kasalanan ko.”
[I told her I love her… I admit what I did.]
Police Superintendent Santos Mera of the Cainta Police Station said, “Talagang plinano niya na… balak niyang samantalahin kasi nag-iisa lang ‘yung doon sa kuwarto, sa bahay.”
[He planned everything. He deliberately assaulted the girl knowing she was alone in the room in the house.]
